April Updates…

Another thing that never gets old is having titles from my backlist reprinted and promoted. It gives new readers a chance to read my work and has the added bonus of reminding me I can actually finish a novel because I’ve done it multiple times before.
You might be surprised that a writer of almost 100 books would admit to having any self- doubts, but I would guess there are very few writers who don’t doubt themselves now and again. Hitting a rough patch in my current work in progress can trigger those negative voices, but I’ve disciplined myself to turn around and look at all the titles I’ve written on the shelves behind me in my office and say out loud, “ You can do this!”
Over the last few months I’ve been reading up on attachment theory. It’s been invaluable in my personal life, especially as a grandmother as I work at building a secure bond with each of my grandchildren. But it’s also been tremendously useful in crafting my characters and giving them an attachment style and seeing how that is impacting them in their life and relationships. My writing journey has given me many blessings but I think the insight I’ve gained into myself and others has been the biggest blessing of all.
This month we celebrate Easter so more boxes have turned up at my house!
Warmest wishes,
Melanie
